About our ORYXE® RFT product…
What is ORYXE® RFT?
ORYXE RFT is a breakthrough combustion additive for reducing emissions and improving efficiency when firing residual fuel oil in boilers and process heaters. The additive technology is unique because of its proprietary combination of materials that have a significant impact on the combustion process yet remain extremely cost-effective to the end user.
What makes ORYXE RFT different than traditional heavy fuel oil combustion additives?
Most traditional combustion additives target PM reductions, but do not provide efficiency gains beyond a small increase in combustion efficiency. Tests conducted with ORYXE RFT have shown that heat flux and heat transfer were increased across all radiant sections of pilot scale and industrial size furnaces. Measurements showed consistent increases in heat transfer. A visible flame change provides evidence of earlier combustion and more intense heat release in the adiabatic section of the furnace. Early combustion provides a longer timeframe for the heat transfer to occur throughout the furnace. The test results and pictures/video can be provided upon request.
What are the benefits of using ORYXE RFT?
Operators of boilers and process heaters are constantly challenged to reduce emissions and increase production or efficiency. Testing has proven that ORYXE RFT provides significant reductions in particulate matter (PM), oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2), while improving furnace heat transfer. Residual oil-fired plants will experience reduced black smoke emissions from their exhaust stack and improved overall efficiency with the use of ORYXE RFT. The efficiency improvement often offsets the cost of the additive, thus providing users with an emission reduction program that requires no large capital expense and little to no operational expense.
What ingredients are in ORYXE RFT?
ORYXE RFT is a proprietary formula that includes non-traditional ingredients in the field of combustion additives.
What tests were run to demonstrate product efficacy?
Testing has been conducted at world-class combustion laboratories, including:
- The DOE approved Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) at the University of North Dakota
- The CANMET Energy Technology Center in Ottawa, Canada
-
The IPT Environmental and Energy Technology Center in São Paulo, Brazil
A field test also was conducted at a major refinery.
PM reductions as high as 63% were achieved. NOx was typically reduced by 34%, CO
by 50% and CO2 by 23%. In addition, efficiency improvements ranged from 2-6%.What types of companies should consider using ORYXE RFT?
Utilities and industrial manufacturing plants that fire residual fuel oil in steam generating boilers and process heaters should consider using ORYXE RFT to reduce PM emissions and potentially reduce operating costs. Plants that fire heavy fuel oil and have problems with opacity should consider using this product.
How do I know ORYXE RFT will not harm my furnace or boiler?
ORYXE RFT contains ingredients that are 100% compatible with fossil fuels and bio-fuels.
How do I purchase ORYXE RFT?
Contact ORYXE Energy at +1-949-748-8800 or through our website at www.oryxe-energy.com
Can I obtain a sample of ORYXE RFT to run a trial test prior to purchasing?
If you are a potential customer, we will provide ORYXE RFT to you at no cost to run a trial test. The quantity must be discussed and agreed upon with an ORYXE Energy representative. Contact us for further details.
How is ORYXE RFT added to the residual fuel oil?
ORYXE RFT is introduced to the fuel stream using a metered injection pumping (MIP) system. The MIP system electronically monitors fuel flow and is programmed to dispense automatically the proper amount of additive directly into the fuel stream. The system allows ORYXE RFT to be interfaced into the fuel line immediately before combustion takes place.
Can ORYXE RFT be used for marine bunker applications?
If a ship operates an on-board furnace that fires residual oil, then ORYXE RFT could be applied. However, ORYXE RFT has not been tested on-board a ship in an internal combustion engine. This testing is scheduled to take place in the near future.
