About our ORYXE® LED product…
What is ORYXE® LED?
ORYXE LED is a cost-effective and innovative additive technology that addresses both regulatory and market requirements for low-emission diesel fuel. ORYXE Energy has conducted independent, TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality)- sanctioned emission performance tests that demonstrate the product is effective, which is why the Commission has accepted ORYXE LED for use in the Texas Low Emission Diesel (TxLED) market.
Where is your additive made, and how much are you able to produce?
We have an ORYXE LED blending facility in Pasadena, Texas, which is operated by Afton Chemical. We can produce enough additive to supply the TxLED market and service other domestic and international markets as well.
Will ORYXE LED help reduce fuel prices in low-emission
diesel markets, such as Texas?
ORYXE LED could have a favorable effect on supply and price. Without additive technology, fuel suppliers would most likely have to modify existing refining and distribution infrastructure to produce specialty products called “boutique” fuels that meet governmental regulations. The difficulties and expenses associated with producing and supplying these specialty products could increase the cost to the consumer. However, by using ORYXE LED at the terminal loading rack (the final point of distribution), companies can eliminate these costly production and distribution issues.
How does ORYXE LED address the industry’s concern over boutique fuels?
ORYXE Energy's technology allows refiners to continue to produce one standardized diesel fuel. Either refiners or terminal operators can then treat this fuel with ORYXE LED to create a low-emission diesel fuel, such as TxLED, at the most appropriate point in the supply chain.
Is ORYXE LED a solution for just fuel producers or can fuel consumers use it as well?
In addition to fuel producers such as refiners and terminal operators, ORYXE LED is available to large-scale fuel consumers, such as fleets, with commercial fuel storage capabilities. Contact us for further details.
What is the price of ORYXE LED?
ORYXE LED costs only a few cents per gallon treated – less than the per-gallon price of TxLED that is prescriptively formulated by refiners.
Technology
How does the
product work?
ORYXE LED alters the course of chemical reactions in the combustion process, thereby reducing emissions.
What tests were run to demonstrate product efficacy?
ORYXE Energy has passed two separate TCEQ-sanctioned emissions performance tests demonstrating the necessary emissions reductions for the TxLED market.
During the first test, EPA compliant diesel fuel treated with ORYXE LED was tested at the internationally-recognized West Virginia University National Research Center for Alternative Fuels, Engines and Emissions which found significant reductions in emissions of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and total hydrocarbons compared to untreated EPA compliant diesel. The testing conformed with federal test procedures (specified in CFR Part 86) according to a protocol established by the TCEQ (contained in the Houston-Galveston SIP).
ORYXE Energy’s second test, the Texas Alternative Diesel Formulation test, further demonstrated the ability of ORYXE LED to significantly improve diesel fuel emissions. Test data showed that a high aromatics, ultra low sulfur candidate diesel fuel treated with the ORYXE LED additive produced an equivalent or better emissions profile than a low aromatics, ultra low sulfur TxLED reference fuel (untreated) for the following emissions: Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Total Hydrocarbons (THC), Non-Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Total Particulate Matter (TPM). The tests were conducted at West Virginia University National Research Center for Alternative Fuels, Engines, and Emissions Laboratory, following the TCEQ’s new robust testing compliance procedure that includes onsite test supervision by TCEQ personnel. The testing conformed with 30 TAC §114.315(c) of the TCEQ regulations.
Is the product
registered with the EPA?
Yes.
ORYXE LED is registered with the EPA (identification number 192220005).
Commercialization
How is ORYXE LED added to diesel fuel?
ORYXE LED is combined with diesel fuel at distribution locations, such as terminals and refineries. The additive can be proportionally injected into the diesel fuel at the terminal loading rack, or it can be easily splash-blended into existing diesel storage tanks.
